Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[a] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Spiritual Hack: 4 Tips to Better Prayer

1. Make a list. – Take a minute before praying and list the things you want to pray about from world peace to Mr. Smith’s gout; remember, you promised him you’d pray for it.

2. Go to Your Closet.  Go someplace private; your car, a spare bedroom, I’ve even used a literal closet.  – Matthew 6:6

3. Pray Out Loud.  Let’s be honest … I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in quiet prayer and the fan is running, there is no noise … it’s still early … in the … morning … I’m a … little … tired … and I start to drift off and … fall asleee … zzzzzzz.  No kidding, it happened to me all the time.  So, I decided to start praying out loud.   Not only do I stay awake but it helps me form more intelligent, coherent thoughts and concentrate more on what I’m praying about.

4. Let Satan Create Your To-Do-List.  WHAT!? Yep, I mean what I said.  There is nothing Satan wants more than to distract you from talking to God.  One of his best tricks is to remind you of all the good, righteous, productive things you need to do.

Heavenly Father …  Did I call Karin back?”
please help Mike withI wonder what time VBS starts.”
I need strength to keep … Did I return the Johnson File?

I know you’ve been there; so keep a notepad handy so you can quickly write down all the things that come to mind while you’re talking to God.  You may discover some amazing ideas completely unrelated to what you’re praying about. If you’re lucky, you’ll finish your prayer time having talked God along with a full day’s worth of productive activity listed.  Thanks Lucifer!
