I just turned 51, and I start to think about being into life’s final quarter or final half if I’m optimistic.
It’s harder to stay in shape; I bet I’ve lost 30 pounds 30 times in my life, and I’m on that path again. And the thought of retirement creeps in but, to be honest, I don’t see myself ever retiring in the traditional sense. I know people that retire and just stop. They stop moving, stop thinking, and generally stop engaging life.
I will not do that; as I grow older, I want a vibrant, energetic, body, mind, and spirit.
That’s why today’s conversation with my friend Tom Thompson couldn’t be more timely for me personally.
Tom just released his third book, Get a Kick Out of Life – Expect the Best of Your Mind, Body, and Soul at Any Age.
We last spoke with Tom on episode 63 where we talked about his book Kickstart. He’s an author, coach, sought-after speaker, and he holds the world record for being the oldest athlete to score in an NCAA football game.
Tom is 69 years old, but looking at him, speaking with him, and watching him; you’d think he was 15 years younger.
